Personal Review:

Unfortunately this movie was based on a memoir, so these terrible events happened, but this isn’t the only victim of conversion therapy as there are over 400,000 Americans who have undergone some form of conversion therapy. This movie allows a small glimpse into the world of staunch Christians who use brainwashing and fear tactics as well as other heinous methods to convert a homosexual person to “heterosexual” I will never understand the hatred we have for others with a different sexual preference/gender etc but this movie speaks volumes to real-life issues and inequalities the LGBTQI members face today. All round great acting by Hollywood heavyweights Russell and Nicole as well as great directorship by Joel. I thoroughly enjoyed Lucas’ performance in this film.
