With the NFL kick off just a week away I will be having a look at some of the early favorites to take the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
PATRIOTS: The New England are the favorites in Vegas to win it all again. The perennial favorites won the Super Bowl last season and it’s difficult to see how they won’t at least win their division this season. With seasoned veteran quarterback Tom Brady looking better than ever in pre-season and many are predicting another record breaking title win for this footballing dynasty. Although the Pats have some issues with regards to giving Brady targets this season, one cannot ignore the fact that they always get it done with what they have and that is a testament to their Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick. The coach has over seen the greatest run of Super Bowl appearances in the sports history with the Patriots reaching the season ending game 11 times, winning the Super Bowl in a record 6 of those games. You’d be a fool to write them off and I think they will be there and there bouts again this season however I don’t see them winning it all this season and perhaps a division title will be all they can muster.
CHIEFS: The Kansas City Chiefs are next on the bookies list of favorites and you can see why. They have arguably the best young quarterback in the league with Patrick Mahomes and also the league’s best deep threat in wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The two formed a lethal combination last season and were beaten in the Super Bowl by the Patriots. One would think they will use last season as fuel to ignite a charge at the title this season. It’s not all about attack this season either with the Chiefs making some changes in the off season to improve in the defensive department. They have changed the base system as well as the entire coaching staff and have as many as seven new defensive starters including safety Tyrann Mathieu and defensive end Frank Clark. There is no doubt the Chiefs will do well this season and are my favorites for the NFL crown this season I think they will have learnt a lot from losing to the Pats last season and I think they are ready to make a big statement this season.
DARK HORSE: The bookies have their favorites and it’s hard to argue with them but my dark horse to win it all is the Cleveland Browns. The Browns showed signs of improvement last season when Baker Mayfield took over at Quarterback and I think that upward trend is set to continue. By adding into the mix the exceptional talent of Odell Beckham Jr. they now have one of the most dangerous deep threats in the league and if you couple that with the running ability of Kareem Hunt and wide receiver Jarvis Landry, the Browns will be exciting to watch this season. While they have some off field issues with Hunt being suspended for the first 8 games of the season this might be a blessing in disguise because they will get their best running back, back at crunch time in the season and if they can go maybe 4-4 or better in his absence I believe they will make a big push for not only the divisional title but the Super Bowl as well
The football season officially gets underway on the 5th of September 2019 with a clash between The Green Bay Packers and The Chicago Bears. We will have the results from all the NFL games as well as opinions on various matches throughout the season as well.
