The NBA has slowly started to welcome back fans into stadiums around the league but it seems that a few spectators have abused that privilege.
Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards faced off against Joel Embiid’s 76ers; we know the history between these two so these games are always fun to watch.
Philadelphia was having their way with Washington for majority of the evening but late in the game Russell Westbrook goes down with an apparent ankle injury. I love Russ, I love the energy he brings every time he steps on the court and he is a walking triple-double (he has the most in NBA history after breaking Oscar Robertson’s previous record).
You can imagine his frustration after willing this team to a play-in spot after being the worst team in the league a few months back. As he was being escorted to the locker room, an unruly fan dumped his entire popcorn onto Westbrook’s head. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for heckling and other fan behavior but this was just disrespectful. Russ wanted all the smoke and had to be held back by stadium personnel.
For real though, Russ worked his ass off this entire year and for him to be treated like that isn’t cool especially after suffering an injury.
