Star wide receiver Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons have finally come to an agreement and deservedly so after an Instagram post from the NFL’s official Instagram page.

The Atlanta Falcons drafted Julio with the 6th overall pick in the 2011 draft and has exceeded the already high expectations placed on him since. Atlanta and Jones finalized a new deal on Saturday per Tom Pelissero from the NFL Network and is expected to receive $66 million per Ian Rapoport making him the leagues highest paid receiver.

This comes right after Atlanta Falcons’ general manager Thomas Dimitroff said of Jones’ contract status following the 2018 campaign, “We’ll take care of that business,” per Falcons reporter William McFadden.

It’s no surprise Julio is now the leagues highest paid receiver after another stellar year playing in all 16 regular season games and hauling in 113 receptions with 8 touchdowns, 1677 receiving yards and an average of 14.8 yards per reception.

Julio has been a cornerstone in the Falcons’ offense. The 6’3″ tall 220-pound makes it virtually impossible for any defensive player to successfully cover him in one-on-one matchups. His sheer strength and speed has made him a force to be reckoned coupled with his route-running and deep ball ability it’s easy to see why he is a top-3 WR in the league.

The talented receiver also holds a number of NFL records including becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 10,000 career receiving yards, accomplishing the feat in 104 games. His career average of 96.7 receiving yards per game is the highest in NFL history.

Atlanta made sure they secured one of the best players in the entire league with this deal. Keeping him at the team that drafted him for the next three years.
