It seems that Covid-19 takes no prisoners.
Idris Elba was the most recent celebrity to test positive for the virus. This past Tuesday he took to a live Twitter feed to answer some questions from followers as well as giving us an update as to how he is dealing and ensuring everyone that he is doing okay.
“Please guys, now is not the time,” he said. “People need to know facts, need to understand the truth so that they can protect themselves. Stop sending this stuff out. It’s very dangerous for all, not just black people, but for everyone.”
“We were really lucky to test very quickly because of the shortages of the test, but from my perspective it was the best thing to do immediately was to get tested because I was going to be around a lot of people starting this new film,” he said.
Although he has stated that he is doing okay, Idris mentioned that his pre-existing asthma puts him at a higher risk than most given the fact that the pathogen attacks the respiratory system and leaves the lungs vulnerable with the possibility of lung scarring, fibrosis etc.
“I’ve had asthma all my life and catching corona was not on my bucket list at all,” he joked. “But even my asthma is OK.”
Other notable celebrities who have contracted the virus is Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson, Olga Kurylenko, Kristofer Hivju, Daniel Dae Kim just to name a few.
Our thoughts and prayers goes out to all those affected by the virus especially those who live in impoverished and overcrowded communities with poor sanitation as well as the elderly and the sick.
